Which Clutch Kit to Use

Hey guys having a new clutch put back into my sons 03 that is gonna be stock and was looking on which would be the best for stock. Was looking and they ranged from about $250-$400, XTR, Exedy, Megatuning. Car is at AMS and they were just gonna put a OEM back in it, should I use one of the aftermarkets? Thanks again for all the help.

Exedy stage 1 is what I would put in there, it will hold a little over stock. If that's not enough look at the Competition line up. A few of my buddy's has been running them and they are great.

Thanks I seen them on there, I was looking to just put an OEM back in there to try and keep the cost down a little since I am sticking so much money into by putting it back to stock. Is there anything wrong with putting a OEM back in there when the car will be pretty much stock anyway? Also are the aftermarket OEM clutches any good? Thanks.

IMO the OEM stock clutch was a little under engineered for the car from the get go. They should have known people would push these cars and made it a little more heavy duty. It's quite easy to burn up with a good amount of aggressive driving. I would say most people don't end up getting many miles out of it. It depends on how you drive but if you are into spirited driving at all I would go with something with a little more grabbing power than stock.

I've had one of these for about a year and a half. I like it so far. I would run it with the stock flywheel if you can.

If you were selling the car I would go stock.

The OEM clutch is and exedy clutch therefore, I would recommend replacing it with an Exedy stage 1 or 2 single disk. It should be very similar to stock feel and put up with stock power...then you know if the clutch goes bad he is beating on it and driving too aggressive lol.

Just a slightly harder pedal than stock, nothing to complain about.

We ended up going with the Exedy, had to buy a bunch of other parts since the car had the AMS/Exedy Push Style Triple Metallic HD Clutch Kit in it. That clutch has less than 100 miles on it and sells for $4699. from AMS. Dont need anything like that for stock, if my son burns the clutch up its not gonna be that one.

If it's going back to stock OEM or Exedy Stage 1 would be a great choice. If you plan on modding in the future I'd recommend upgrading now rather than having to do it later.
