Andrew, I'll shoot you a text tomorrow and let you know how the car does. If you don't here from me by 1200 give me a buzz. Thanks for the luck.

Getting there. Some welding to finish, fuel system upgrade (phase 2) is done, we'll be going to the dyno this afternoon.

Very interested in seeing the results. Although, I think people will take this test out of context and will try to compare this TS setup to a properly sized T4 setup, and I personally don't think it transfers over. The 10.5 housing is pretty small on flow area and I'm sure it is choking the hell out of that turbo. You will likely see nice power gains below the boost level where the compressor is getting maxed out. At the point where the compressor is maxed out, it will be very interesting as exhaust backpressure due to the housing is no longer the issue.

FWIW though, this would be like comparing a 0.78 A/R T3 divided GT35R to a 0.83 A/R T3 (or larger) undivided GT35R.

I could probably use my solid model of the turbine housing and get a good rough gage on A/R size. The stock 9.8 housing is ~0.78 A/R and the 10.5 ~0.83 A/R. Mitsubishi's method of calling out inlet area is actually more useable then A/R ratios though.

03white,
You can measure the inlet area based on that gasket. I just radiused the factory gasket and removed the divide. I didn't want to guess on A/R... it is what is.

Just to clarify... I did this out of curiousity and to make more power than Mike@AWD. Just because there's obviously no love lost between the two of us. I don't intend this to be any kind of direct comparison of TS to SS... given the turbine inlet area. I hope to see Mikey take the FPBlack HP record. We'll see very soon if the work I put into this has merit. I hope we can give it a fair shake on the dyno and make some progress.

For those of you wondering... this took well over 50 hours worth of porting.

Bloody Hell - just gota hate single scroll...

Would you say it spools better than a HTA82 with a T3 .63? because essentially I guess thats what it should be similar to...

I hope to be doing a test with a T3 .48 vs stock 10.5... As despite what people say I still believe 10.5 is closest to a .48 size wise.

ps. isnt there a 10.5 single scroll housing available from turbochargers.com or somthing...

.

Mike took pictures of the manifold and the turbine housing... you'll have to wait for him to post them.

I'll update as I get texts from Mike.

R/T, yeah, I know you aren't trying to make a TS vs SS, just saying some may try to take it that way. Unfortunately, as I'm sure you are aware, the housing size is not the inlet area, but the area where the scroll first meets the nozzle.

The 9.8 housing being roughly 0.78 A/R would perform about the same as a 0.47 single scroll housing. Or in Mitsu terms, about the same as a 6cm housing.
