Turbo blanket for stock turbo?

Got a question for ya. I have been trying to find a turbo blanket for an evo 9 style turbo. I was wondering if the one STM sells will fit...it says T3 or T4 turbos.

Keeps the heat in and not into the engine area.

Possibly improve spool and power.

its simple and effective IMO

as biffman said it keeps unwanted heat out of the engine bay. It also decreases lag a little and adds a little bit of power. In the new Import tuner they did dyno runs with a blanket on, it picked up 1 whp and about 1wtq and spooled a bit faster. any gain is a gain and the heat thing would probably be more help on the road then the dyno. and for the price...why not?

Yes they do work, I would recommend the turbo blanket from Buschur Racing with the lava material. I would say a turbo blanket in combination with ceramic coating would be the way to go if your looking to reduce the most radiant heat from your bay.

I will update...wont be for a few weeks as I am putting an evo 9 turbo on...so unfortunately there wont be any measurable gain from it due to diff turbos.

edit: I will wait to get the turbo blanket till after the 9 turbo is on...I am curious to see if the gains can be felt.

1whp/1ft lb is pretty damn hard to say is a gain. Anyway..........the theory is that the spool up is better by retaining the heat.

I'll be dead honest on this, the #1 reason to run the blanket is pure safety. That turbine housing is FARKING HOT!!! IF oil hits it you have an instant fire, INSTANT. Oil line on the turbo fails, you knock a rod through the block etc. The car is going to catch on fire if oil hits the hot turbine housing, I've seen it happen more times than I care to remember.

It does, absolutely, keep under hood temps lower too. Dyno'ing an actual gain is tough.
