I'll be dead honest on this, the #1 reason to run the blanket is pure safety. That turbine housing is FARKING HOT!!! IF oil hits it you have an instant fire, INSTANT. Oil line on the turbo fails, you knock a rod through the block etc. The car is going to catch on fire if oil hits the hot turbine housing, I've seen it happen more times than I care to remember.

It does, absolutely, keep under hood temps lower too. Dyno'ing an actual gain is tough.

So using a DEI T3 turbo blanket will work with stock frame turbos, correct?

Looks like i came late to the party so i'm reviving this thread back from the dead. Anybody here has placed a turbo blanket on a stock turbo/stock frame turbo with the heat shield on, or did you have to trim it? I'm planning to put this in an Evolution 6 with the OEM turbo and heat shield. Hoping to reduce temperatures under the bonnet as it reaches around 45-47 degrees C (as per my climate control unit, im sure its waay hotter than that).

Thanks!
