5th gear vibration

I never really use 5th gear much unless I'm really getting on it but the other day I took my car out for a nice drive and I noticed a bad vibration when I'm in 5th but only while on the gas. Going down hil coasting in 5th there are no problems but as soon as i touch the gas i get this horrible vibration that feels like an unbalanced driveshaft but the problem is not speed related, it seems more torque related. I drained my trans fluid and noticed some small metalic pieces. Could my vibration be caused by a bad 5th gear? Like bad contact or not meshing well on the main? I really don't want to pull the trans out if i'm just missing something simple any help would be great

are you getting a p0300 code? there is a chance that code is disabled in your ecuflash too.

worst case is your input shaft is worn, some 03's have this issue (including mine). rebuild is necessary then.

I don't have any lights on but i'll see if I can borrow a buddy's scan tool to see if any codes were set oor if any are pending. Did you have a gear specific vibration problem too?
