Whats best in adding octane to 92/93

Hey guys,

Got a weekend worth of driving events coming up where the car will be leant on pretty hard, not continual track work but regular 2-3-4 gear pulls against other cars.

Got the car running pretty nice at 26psi peak, however I wouldn't mind bumping up the fuel with an additive.

I have all the gear ready to go for an E85 tune, but not sure if i'll have the time to map it as it'll be my first attempt at E85, and I won't get a few weeks of fine tuning under my belt prior to running.

Soooo. help me out here.
DO I:

- Run it on 92/93 (our 98RON) with ~15% Toulene mixed in which should bump it up to ~98-100MON (bout 105RON) by my cals.
- Run it with a 50% mix of avgas (controlled 100RON aviation fuel) which won't bump up the octane heaps, but will give a nice bankable octane rating.
- Run it with E85 mixed into the current 92/93... is that safe without remapping?
- Drop the boost to a safer level of low 20's and lose the 20whp? haha.

Don't want to lose face against a heap of mates in turbo 6's and V8's, but don't feel like building at motor at the same time... lol.

If you are running the Tephra v7 rom then just keep a close eye on your knock and you should be fine. I would do the aviation fuel though and maybe throw a hair more timing into it for a few extra ponies

DO NOT run the e85 mixed without tuning for it! You will run lean.

Nope, running 9055.
Have a wideband gauge, CEL on knock etc though so thats all good.

Won't be adding any timing, this is just to add a ceiling of safety.

run what your car is tuned for. If its straight pump gas, then run that.

Why?

Because since it is straight gasoline, it's the only one that will not potentially affect AFR values and/or cause cold start issues.

True, I would only be adding 10-15% Tol if I went that way.

Iceman: it's tuned for 92/93 which I run, however a safety buffer in 80+ degree ambient temps is never a bad thing.

I like 1 to 1.5 gallons of Xylene per tankful of pump gas.

its been my experience that avgas does not run well, poor throttle response. it is made to be ran at high elevation and at a steady engine speed/load. yes it also is leaded.

personally i like the torco racegas concentrate. i have used it with 93 on a few 650hp mustangs i have tuned. works great! ok with o2 sensors and cats as its unleaded. it does leave your exhaust tip orange though.

Eventually it will. I'm not a fan of leaded race gas (e.g. C16) for that reason.

As for AvGas behaving differently, I've used it on occasion for years and never experienced any such issues.

My bad Tonba, just looked at MSDS's for BP and the green is full lead, the blue is 100LL (low lead).
A good mate of mine and a few others I know have been running it on and off in his injected, blown V8 for years in 100% concentrations without any issues, the 100LL stuff of course.

Ted, in a 50/50 mix will this stuff nuke my wideband sensor? As this runs my closed loop stuff too, running a hollow cat... Leaning back toward Xylene now cause of the lead.

Toulene over all. Buy it in a 55-gallon drum and use it for over a year.
