I've had my bc 272 cams for a long time now and I'm very happy with my purchase I picked them up I think around the time they just came on the market and I was able to get them for a great deal. I installed them myself so it didn't cost me too much.

First impressions after install noticeable improvement with the butt dyno and even better after I had it tuned. I used to drag race a lot a few years back and I have to say compared to the stock cams the bc 272 helps. Definitely pulled harder and longer but keep in mind I'm talking about and Evo VIII here. If it were the IX I would be happy with the stock cams the mivec does a great job IMO.

Back then I had my mind set on building a well balanced car and these cams definitely did the job. When it comes to cam choices I would say a good amount of them out there would give u good gains if not great with minimal losses.

Also I passed smog very easily and I live in Cali that should be sayin something lol. I think I answered all the questions?

Thanks, and no problem another thing I like to mention is when you're selecting cams you should also look at the technical specs for example the measured lift and measured duration at .050 instead of the advertised duration.

I had FP 4R's in my last Evo and S2's in the Evo I drive now....night and day difference in power and throttle response throughout the entire powerband.

S2's, FP4R's or Kelford 272....they're all very nice cams.

GL man

I'm curious. Do you think you could elaborate on the differences you saw, if any, between the 4r's and S2's? Both of these cams are in the cards if/when I eventually want a more aggressive cam. Thanks!

+1 on the Brian Crower cams. I have an 8, and the BC 272/272 cams were a great upgrade. I went with them because of price but also because the 272s are compatible with the stock springs (I guess that’s because the duration isn’t that aggressive). Other cams may yield better gains, but IMO, the price/performance combination of the BC cams can't be beat.

Friend, I am newbie in EVO. I bought stripped EVO IX MR.
before i had 2jzgte with 600bhp in GT35R + stock cams.

with EVO my powergoals are apx 350-400bhp. 12 sec 1/4mile.

Basically at this moment I thought about stock ix trurbo, stock mivec cams, Exhaust + Intake upgraded.

So if stock ix turbo = then stock ix mivec cams.
If FP turbo = then at least 272.

Am I right?

Cams were the one mod that seemed to affect drivability more than any other bolt on. So with the power increase, you sacrifice by having a weird idle and sometimes even feels like it wants to stall when coming to a stop. A good tune can help with these issues, but it will still be noticable. Your tuner will probably set your idle at a slightly higher RPM to combat these issues.

Just want to understand from USA EVO owners, if EVO IX with mivec and stock ix turbo, if powergoal is 370-400 ==== should we upgrade cams?
