power loss or what?

Hi guys,

I have a full 3" exhaust systems (dp, straight pipe, cat-back), re-circ bov, intake. These past few weeks i've been noticing a lack of power on the high end, u know the feeling like the rpm takes longer to reach redline unlike before. Is it due to the clutch wearing out or what? (i'm talking about power loss at 3rd and 4th gear). Is it just my brain getting used to the power or does it have to do with the stock clutch).

Maybe you just have some bad gas and the timing is being pulled to compensate. Have you refilled at the same gas station for the past few weeks?

Just a suggestion.

I would start by disconnecting the negative terminal on your battery to reset the ECU. Then I would get some gas where I knew it was "good" and throw in a can of BG 44K.

ECU reset & check for boost leaks too.

If its taking longer to get to redline, chances are the clutch is not slipping! If it was slipping, you would reach redline quicker, without really accelerating the car.

bov fitted wrongly

I went to the local performance shop today and a friend was fitting his re-circ bov in his evo and noticed that his was fitted horizantally rather than vertically like it was on mine. So when i asked the technicians which was was the correct way and showed my bov install on my car, he said that mine was installed wrongly. It was installed by some other guy at the same workshop but i could not remember who it was. After a quick re-install, i found that my car performed much better (like it's supposed to be), turns out that was the cause of the lack of power. Damn i was pissed, i've been driving like that for the past 2 months. The big wooosh sound is also no longer as loud as before and the power is much more responsive unlike before where it felt like the car is drowning and felt a bit sluggish. Damn.

Btw, about the ecu reset, would that be necessary after fitting in a new downpipe, straight pipe or cat-back?
