AYC ACD Conversion

I know this has been covered may times (I have searched) and is suggested not to do it becase it is not worth the time or money but if I were dead set on getting it, would any one know the part numbers for all of the required parts? I am trying to do a comparison of the actual cost to import everything to do ths conversion.

Thanks

I would suggest that you get yourself an Evo VII shop manual. That will list ALL part numbers.

In the end, I think you'll find that it's not just a matter of swapping out USDM parts for JDM parts. There will be a certain amount of relocating and custom fabrication that will need to be completed.

SC~

Thanks for the info I was taking in to consideration on the relocation and other items. I am still just thinking about this so nothing is set in stone.

Anyone know where to get a Evo VII shop manual? I am going to check on ebay

I even considered that, getting a wrecked one instead of a whole new one since I already own one

What good is having it if you can legally drive it in this country?

Actually, if you're serious about this, you may want to call RMR. They put an ACD unit and helical front LSD in a USDM Evo 8. It was around 5,000 for everything, IIRC. That gives the best of both worlds. rear mechanical and center electronic.

I will talk to them, I am not sure how serious I am about this right now. I have read all the Why's an why nots and now it is down to price and hassle so I am trying to do my home work on that.

Thanks for the direction

I'm with you on interest in this one. I've read all the "pooh on AYC" threads too and I'm still a fan of it. Thought about getting a VII for this very reason (yeah, illegal....but with the VIII's all over the road, who the heck is really enforcing this? There are already a handful driving around in the US and just not advertising it a whole lot). I'd be interested to hear what you learn and what kind of torque these units are tolerating on tuned rides.

If Motorex can legalize Skylines, there should be a company out there that can legalize earlier edition Evolutions. Maybe Motorex could broaden their market?

I think warranty would be a moot point - try finding a Mitsu tech who can wrench on it.
