I was actually pondering getting the FP housing in hopes for more HP. So far this discussion isnt giving me the answer I was hoping for.

Gear head, those numbers were on a IX turbo right? Was the only modification the 4" intake and FP compressor housing? If so, thats proof in the pudding (if the car was properly tuned prior, which you said it was).

Ryu may be right about the comp wheel on the IX turbo being slightly different. He cites Robert to back up what he is claiming. I always heard that VIII and IX comp wheels were the same monkey.I think that either Robert was misquoted, or there was a typographical error. Most agree that the difference between a IX and an VIII turbo is worth abot 10-15WHP though. I always thought that the difference was in the compressor housiing but that the compressor wheels were the same when comparing VIII to IX.As a matter of fact, I always thought that when comparing VIII and IX turbos to each other, that the only really different comp wheel was the Mag wheel used on the JDM and UK market IX RS models.I am no expert, nor do I claim to be, so let me know if I am wrong.

D Grade, yes that was a IX turbo & the only things that were changed were the intake & housing.

Sparky, where did you find that quote from Robert at? It has always been my undestanding that the 8 & 9 compressor wheels were the same, even comparing side by side.

Impressive! And the car was properly tuned before hand?

Yes, although it's an extremely conservative tune since it's my meth failsafe.

Impressive, gear head. You've got me on the band wagon thinking the compressor cover will make a bit of a difference (bet it sounds nice too ). I think Ill do some more research and then consider getting one in the future.

Gearhead is not the only one to see 20HP gains on the stock turbo with that cover.

Also, the EVO 4-9 has only been available with 3 different compressors. The 65mm TME, the standard 68mm 16G6 and the magnesium compressor in the JDM RS. The EVO VIII and IX compressors are the same and can be interchanged.

I had forgotten about the TME turbo having a smaller comp wheel than any of the others.

While they may be the same size there could be small differences in the shape that would allow for more/less efficiency...

Finally found out 100% from FP that there is not a cover available that will fit the OG Green. I just ordered a brand new non ported cover for my green from them.
