My car had the 6 speed thrown out before I got it. It has only seen track abuse though, but as of now, the car only has 4,800 miles so it had to have gone bad in the first few thousand.. stock motor/turbo/injectors, just tuned on race gas. It is running a TRE 5 speed now.
There is a lot of previous discussion on this topic and longevity does vary from owner to owner based on driving habits however, some recent information and input from MR (6 speed) owners would be good to hear.
As of now mine is great (knock on wood) and currently has ~ 300awhp/300tq

yea like previously stated its all about driving/launchin the car and whatnot, the six speeds are cool if the cars stock with light mods usually there fine. Once u start launchin them and makin mid 300's they start to get very noisy and whiney.
On my Evo 8 MR I have full TBE & O2 housing, Injen Intake, Injen UICP, ETS LICP, ETS 3.5" FMIC, Walbro 255, Hallman MBC, Evo IX BOV, STM Tuned at 23psi on their mustang dyno making 277awhp/284tq (which is approximately 300/300 on dynojet) and an Exedy Twin HD.
I have only launched the car at that power a few times.

this thread is not going to help you man. Please go read john from tre's upgrade 6speed page. He tells about the weakness which is oil passages, and not strong enough gears. He has an upgrade that allows for shot peening of the gearset along with oil passages added. Otherwise it has a threshold max of 400tq if that. IF you go over it'll break sooner or later.
I had my ix mr for 23k miles and it was 350 whp and 340 wtq most of it's life...not a single issue at all
there are two things that kill the 6 speed
-extended time high speed runs (heat is the killer due to the lack of oil passages in the 4/5/6 gears)
-wtq exceeds 400 (there is no confirmed number or time frame here, but 400+ will eventually catch up with you)

i make over 600whp and mid 500ft lb of torque and i have no issues whatsoever. i only have 28k miles my 05mr. i've dragged the car several times(at apower level of about 450whp) and have done a handful of road courses. it makes no more noise than when the car was bone stock.
