Car wont go into gear

Going home today I punched it in first and put the clutch in to go into second. Car would not go into second. If I push the clutch pedal down it goes down and comes back up. I put the car in nuetral and coasted off the road. I started the car in first and it made a terrible schreeching noise. I got it moving and shifted without the clutch to get it home. If I pushed the clutch in and tried to go into gear with the car started it would lock me out and make a terrible noise.

Anyone have any ideas on what this could be?

Sounds like something up with the clutch. If you can shift without the clutch, then chances re nothing is wrong with the trans. IF using the clutch to shift cause problems, something is wrong with it. What, I have no idea, but it's a starting point.

I had this problem severely 4 months prior to my clutch being completely destroyed. i bled the clutch with new fluid, thinking the old fluid had gotten to hot and boiled, possibly leaving an air bubble in the line. worked great, but started again weeks later, got so bad i started in first to drive next door to the shop and got a huge bang, everything worked and looked fine so i left it. figured when the clutch went we'd look at it, to my best knowledge it was something with the clutch fork, hard to tell with it all being so deep in the engine, but best figure it out sooner than later.

are you sure its always the case? because am having a problem shifting into 4th gear only in those cases(4th-5th-4th or 4th-neutral-4th). everything else works perfectly even when car is on idle or off all gears will go smoothly!
*i just installed the new QM 7.25 twin clutch and a rebuild kit for the trans.

your syncro's have gone bad. if you can put your car into all the gears with your car off and then turn your car and try. if doesnt go into gear while your car is on then your syncro's is the problem.

I have to disagree. How can all the synchronizers go bad at once? This is a good clutch test.

I just went through this. I had an Exedy triple disk and the clutch pack had come apart from the fly wheel because three bolts had either come loose or were broke. I ended up replacing the clutch and fly wheel.

I'm afraid thats what happened to me. Anyone have any ideas on something that might be an easy fix?
