Don't forget that the 84mm cover option is available for the 71HTA as an upgrade. Not sure if it would make a difference in power though.

I will tease more and say that Robert @ FP is willing to convert my old Green into an HTA71 for the same price. And now with the FAP cover available, it's almost a no-brainer...I wonder how it will compare to a BBK Full with the slightly bigger turbine side?

I will be doing this, but my schedule isn't until after the new year.

I am still on the fence about the 84mm cover. I too reside in Cali and want to be a stock appearing as possible. I saw the FP Black with the 84mm cover and it didn't look too big to me but I'm worried that it might to Johnny Law. Still a great deal pending some dyno or test results. I'm looking to make 500/400 and I'm making the power in my sig with stock IX turbo and stock cams. This might be the missing link for me.

You can always have Swain Tech (or someone else) stealth coat the compressor cover black. Or, you can just take off the FP plate like the BBK FAP covers are...that's stealth enough

Hmmm? I like the idea of taking off the plate. I guess that would be pretty stealth. Our banter seems to be keeping this thread alive if nothing else.

So Robert Young made 450whp/tq at 27-28psi on this turbo. Doable on the average setup?

Someone said that was made on a built 2.3 motor and all the extra goodies or something along those lines.

I automatically assumed these were Mustang numbers. Low 500's dynojet. From what I understand Roberts setup is far from average.

Yep, Mustang numbers. Should be interesting to see the results on an average setup, stock block. Gonna get this for my Evo5, the price is right.

Yea, Robert's setup is far from average haha. Like he says, he has it turned to 11 24/7!

And Cobb Plano's Mustang also seems to read fairly high for a Mustang from what I have seen too. Seems more similar to MAP's dynojet than to the local Mustang dynos here.

How much power do you think this turbo is worth over the Stock 9 turbo?

Well, it's rated at 51 lbs/min, so my guess would be about 30whp over stock. That number would obviously depend on the particular dyno/supporting mods/etc, but you get the point.
