Hey Goodhart. Since this thread has taken on a bit of a different life that the OP intended and he hasn't been here since March 15th I have a question for you that others in this thread might be interested in too.

My goal as previously mentioned is 500/400. My torque goal is not really the problem like the hp is obviously. How aggressive did you have to get with timing on spool in order to get 421ft lbs on a stock turbo? You have a stroker or what? That's not crazy high for stock turbo and bottom end but I'm curious what was done to get you there. You and your tuner were comfortable making that torque with a stock bottom end as far a longevity is concerned? Thx

Aggressive peak tq timing and a big boost spike. Most times you hit that kinda tq and it tapers off pretty fast.

Correct Hart, good call. I talked to Bryan at FP about this and he estimated that's the horsepower average over a stock 9 turbo with similar mods.

My friend drives an 05 RS and I just sent his 9 turbo in to be converted to the HTA71 (it's actually a swap, they have these in stock) so turn around time was the same day they got the stock 9 in but ended up being a day only because I missed the first call for payment and Brian had to port a hotside for me. Did I mention that FP is A W E S O M E??). All the lines, mani, and o2 housing are put back together and I will be installing it tomorrow and possibly begin the tuning with Tom at VR-Speed on 93 first, possibly e85 later. Right now he has all the basic bolt-ons, HKS272's, IC, lower and upper, 255 rewired. The only mod changes other than turbo will be ported hotside and exhaust manifold.

This is his old tune on bolt-ons running 25 lbs, 23 at redline on stock 9, o2 housing ported (not the mani or hotside). This was with 16 degrees of timing also by a tuner who no longer tunes, Tom did not do this initial tune but I know he could squeeze more out of it. Outside temps that time of year put the temp about 95 degrees.

And no, I won't make you guys wait long for results

I'm not real sure about the timing, I would have to ask my tuner, or borrow a laptop to look at the tune, but I turned it up to 31psi on that particular pull on the dyno. Those are Dynojet corrected numbers from a Dyno Dynamics. DB Performance has worked with MAP to get a similar correction factor so that in "Shootout" mode, it can simulate dynojet numbers. They have it almost spot on, most 8/9 guys are within about 10whp from "Shootout mode" at DB and MAP's dyno.

Regular uncorrected #'s, I made 351/359 Dyno Dynamics. (DD rear lower than a Mustang)

Here is a link to my project thread on another site, so I don't muck up this thread more than it already is

Yep, big boost spike, and like I said, not real sure about the timing on that run.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it will be similar to a BBK Lite, and if you convert an OG Green to the HTA71 comp wheel that it will be similar to a BBK Full.

I ordered one with Anti-surge cover, and skipped on the FP wastegate, but it has to reach Grenada before I can install and tune. No E85 luxuries here so I'm gonna inject Meth/Water, that and it's going on a stock block Evo5 engine, same block as Evo8 but internals are a bit weaker on the 5 so I have to be careful with the torque.

Mods: 880cc injectors, walbro 255lph hp, ETS 3.5" core, Muse upper and lower piping, GSC S1 cams, full 3" exhaust, Tial QR diverter, ported ex. manifold, ACT HDSS.

Can't wait to install it and get it tuned on pump and pump/meth.

I just ordered one this morning with the anti surge cover also! Aniel@FP said this is definately an improvement over the FP White, So it should really be in between a BBK Lite and BBK Full.

I've been out of town this week but we have the HTA71 bolted up and just about ready on an 8 at my place and will be doing some tuning hopefully this weekend. I'll report back as soon as I have some info. It's a stock motor with comp 272's and E85. Should make some good numbers if the clutch is up to the task...

Only about 1-2 more maps and some afr tweaking and I'll have Tom @ VR-Speed post up results and keep an eye on this thread

It took a few extra days with my work schedule and tweaking old injector latencies that he found were wrong from the previous tuner *sigh*
