Compression test 180 across the board.
Compression test 180 across the board.
So with no luck in finding the original owner of my car but findinng out from people that knew him that it used to have a 35r on it and thats all they knew I want to know if the engine internals were upgraded. There is no real way to do this short of tearing the engine apart. I decided that if they pistons were anything different than stock compression, a compression test would read higher/lower than the norm. So I did one and got an even 180 across every cylinder with the engine warm. Now I need some input from the community here as to what you guys think. If I am going nowhere with my theory please tell me so as well. Thank you.
You can pull the oil pan and see if the block is stock relatively easily. Also if you look carefully into the sparkplug holes you can see the piston tops and see if the pistons are stock without removing anything.
Probably have a stock motor if he was running hks 272s... those cams are beyond junk technology, no one one in their right mind would run those on a build motor these days with a 35r. Pull the oil pan if your really wanna know if your motor stock or built

Also if you know a shop that has a borescope they may be able to help you out there.
And if the cams were done 5 years ago you seriously think a motor that was built 5 years ago with cheap parts since much wasn't available back then would still be good to this date? I don't think so, Hardly Doubt previous owner babied his car if he built the motor for it to last to 2011 and still be running hks 272's
