Good point, I'm not racing yet, just NASA DE3. I don't really go hard at gear changing, but I might need to revisit what I'm doing.

I don't have an answer to your question specifically, but chewing up 5th gear has been a real worry of mine since I started tracking the car. Luckly I haven't had any issues, but as I get faster and faster I'm using 5th more and more and its only a matter of time till my concerns come to furition.

I have an upgraded trans w/REM coatings and the works. I also change my fluid on a pretty regular basis (maybe every 3-4 track days). I'm thinking the next step is a trans cooler w/pump to keep temps in check. I also just implemented gear based boost control so I can attempt to keep the load (boost) in 5th gear to a minimum. Just a couple items for thought.

Oh, I don't think 5th gear itself is an issue. Mine still runs smooth and clean in 5th. Just going from 4-5 is rough because the synchro laid down.

yes. You might want to try changing your trans fluid more often (after 2-3 track days) and ask around to see what trans oil cocktail may help

I change all the driveline fluids every 2 events. Redline MT-90 for the tranny.

i thought it was tre that had the 5th gear double synchro upgrade....

it's rushing the gear change with the big drop between 4th / 5th gear.

what is the max speed of a 6spd 5th gear @ 7k revs?

is your car a dd or 60% track car?
