late spool up

i was driving my evo 9 fpred i have cams and supertech kit and headstuds in the head

i was opening it up in 1st gear and at 7800 i heard a slight pop noise and the spool up was effected instead of the full boost (25psi) hitting at 3900 rpms like usual its hitting about 4700

any pointers on wat cud be the issue

i dont hear any knock from the engine no noise that seems an issue coming from the engine

the turbo sounds the same doesnt seem like its blown or the turbine is off balance

maybe a boost leak ??

or the wastegate ??

any help wud be awesome !

thanks

Do a boost leak test. Sounds like something popped off.

Maybe issue with bov? Try taking it apart or swap springs on it. Doubtful its the problem but who knows.

Id personally check all your houses.

I've got all my trouble shooting pointed to wastegate. If you have a code saying wastegate malfunction than that only supports the possability. Im pulling turbo to look at my wastegate!

No need to yank off the complete turbo to check out the WG. 1) The wastegate actuator can be removed simply by removing two bracket bolts on the compressor housing and removing the cotter pin that secures the end of the actuator rod onto the flapper arm. 2) To inspect the wastegate puck(flapper valve) just remove the turbine housing.

There is no need to R&R the complete turbo. No need to hassle with disconnecting the oil and water feed/return lines. They are a hassle to reinstall man.

I pulled everything apart after trouble shooting everything else and found that it was the wastegate... It was only covering half of the outlet. [IMG][/IMG]
