Over heating problem help!

so i was driving today for about 20 mins turned it off everything was normal. Then it on again tonight n the car started to over heat. turned it off let it sit. i was 1 mile from home down hill so coasted home..

i let the car cool down...checked the COOLANT was full like normal

but it was over heating what could be the problem?

what it is NOT:

no air bubbles in the system
Coolant is not low
Not burning out the tail pipe
Waterpump is still on belt
Themastat is replaced and still not working!?!!?

air bubbles in the coolant system. start it up with the cap off the radiator and watch your coolant level in the overflow tank.

could be many things.
blocked radiator
broken (shut) thermostat
broken waterpump
belt come off waterpump

check to see if the heater is hot when the car is hot.
this will confirm the water pump working.
if the belt on the waterpump is still there and the fan is hot, check the top radiator pipe.
If that is cold, then you probably have a broken thermostat or a blocked pipe.

how were you driving when it overheated?

Check to make sure your cooling fans are working too

i just took it out for a spin. there is coolant to the top in the system there are not bubbles i did what tscompusa said to do first. I idle it holds normal coolant temp... when i start to drive normal it goes up, if i put it in Neutral when driving it goes back down.

the radiator hose is hot. so i think the thermostat is good.

so maybe the water pump just took a sh*t maybe? i just replaced it about 10k ago tho
I also felt the rubber hose going from the block to the radiator, it was warm but not hot to the point i couldnt hold it

You could try a coolant system flush.

sounds like a huge air bubble to me.. and as i told you on aim its not the waterpump. have you ever even looked at a waterpump before? its just a blade that spins attached to a pulley that is belt driven..

when a waterpump goes bad theres a weep hole that leaks coolant, which in return notifies the owner of the vehicle the gasket is so worn down that its time to change it.. if theres no coolant coming from the waterpump its not that.. plus it would squeel.
