What Stage Clutch

Hi guys, today my stock clutch is gone, 39k miles on it, I'm running stock boost 19psi, I need advice which clutch stage should I pick for my actual mod, my future mode will be only ECU Flash.

The brand I pick is Exedy but don't know which stage

Thanks

Prepare for a billion exedy twin recomendations

Is the car just a DD or do you track it at all? 39k is a fairly short clutch lifespan for a car with as little mods as you have, an ACT might be a good upgrade.

I was just in the same boat. Different mods and circumstances. But I had an Exedy stage 1 organic from the previous owner that seemed to be ok till a couple launches did it in. It really couldn't handle what the car had anyway. But I ended up going with an ACT XTSS.

Basically the same pedal feel as the stage 1 and double the TQ numbers. I didn't want to have to upgrade again after a big turbo in my future. So that seemed the best option. I've had bad experience with Exedy twins in my STi in the past, so I didn't really want a twin. But that's personal preference I guess.

Thanks for the replies, my car is DD, one a while a 1/4 mile launch, I'm the second owner so I don't know how the first owner treat the clutch, I start to notice the wear couple of weeks before, when the turbo kicks in the car take few seconds to advance, I though there a boost leak, check everything and didn't find a problem, so I was suspect it the clutch because the engine revs up but the car doesn't advance.

So you guys recommend ACT XTSS better than exedy stage 1? for daily drive cars which one feel smooth for the traffic?

For a DD ACT works great. I have the HDSS and havent experienced lockout, but Im not trying to bang gears. I only autocross so its a short shift to 2nd and leave it unless the course is long then I may shift to 3rd.

Also to consider, the stock clutch lasted 40k miles... Most aftermarket clutches will be in the same ball park. Another stock clutch with the restrictor removed would probably last you just fine.

The only thing I'm thinking about the XTSS or HDSS versus the stage 1 is power handling. I hear that 370ish WTQ is pushing the stage 1. Which is fine for a stock car. But if you plan on running E85 with the stocker or turning up boost, its going to probably slip.

DDing isn't terrible. I got used to the stage 1, and with the prolight flywheel the XTSS engages harder and sooner as expected. It feels really nice. I love it. Its a really nicely built clutch.
