Boost Control PSI Level

What is a safe PSI to run on a stock evo 8 turbo over the stock 18PSI? With just normal bolt-ons, just want a little more boost.

On a tuned car, usually 25psi is a safe boost level.

If you just bolted on some parts (exhaust, intake, etc.) 21psi would be safe until tuned.

Yea, right now everything is just bolted on and tuned stock, but I just got a manual boost controller and wanted to turn the boost up without messing things up....Also, what PSI would I need to get head studs at?

I've heard that anything over 330awhp, you'll need head studs.

Get it tuned first. Have you logged the car yet? Untuned on 91 I wouldn't suggest going over 19.5 PSI. 21 would be absolute max untuned on 91. That is for me at least.

You do have a boost gauge right? I realize that there is an itch to install the MBC and crank up the boost. But, resist that urge and just get a good tune first.

^+1. I would get a tune before messing wit the boost or you might regret doing so. Do you have a wideband? If so u could ever so slightly mess with the boost as long as the afr stays in check.
