Arrow FP turbo oil line filter

I got my car with a FP Black with the FP oil line with the black filter and just read on there site the black filter is more for the ball bearing turbos since it has the .030 restrictor hole in it versus the red filter with the bigger .100 hole in it. Turbo has been fine for at least 6k miles, I DOUBT I have a ball bearing black since mine is like 6+ months - 1 year old and theres a thread how someone is finally making a bb black. So should I get the red filter without the restrictor hole for more oil flow? It seems like they sell the black filter in the oil line kits but since most fp turbos are journal bearings (from what i no of) so it seems like its ok to do? I see most journal bearing turbos do have a small reduced oil inlet hole like the Precision turbo on my stang and turbos on the diesels I work on, just like this black filter hole. Should I get the red one so my turbo has more oil flow?

The FP Black and Red have a special steel on steel bearing that requires to be feed directly from the oil pump housing (I believe) and uses the larger diameter restrictor.

I also have the black filter housing, which I got from Robert specifically for my FP Black. got it quite a while back before they even had the red one on the site that I remember.. I would still give them a call to verify yours but I think the first ones were all black

It sure does, it only took the previous owner buying 3 fp reds to figure out it needed the oil line, but anyways now that I think about it even tho my filter is black it looks like it has a normal big size hole.

I'm going to bump this from the grave rather than make a new thread.

My car has JB Black with the red restrictor as recommended by FP. The car is using oil since the install and I'm pretty sure it is related to turbo as I see oil by the compressor wheel when I take off my intake. Installed a catch can to relieve crankcase pressure and help oil return from turbo but to no avail.

I am wondering if getting the black restrictor to have slightly less oil flowing to the turbo is a viable thing to try to address oil consumption. The turbo was rebuilt by FP just prior to my installing it so I would hate to send it out assuming it needs to be rebuilt again.

Alternatively I'm thinking of running the stock hard line from the head but I know FP says that is a big no-no.

Greatly appreciate any advice.

NO!!! You will kill your JB. The red restrictor is .125", and the black is .030" for BB turbos only.

Installing a catch can does noting if you didn't enlarge the ports in the valvecover..

I ran my green with a brass tee off the back of the block where the oil pressure sensor goes on the 2.4l (not sure about 2.0) and ran a stainless steel oil feed line directly to the turbo worked for 60k until I took the turbo off the car. No restricter on JB turbos.

I told him not to run the small .030" restrictor. I didn't say anything about running without a restrictor.

Thanks. I did replace both ports in valve cover with STM -6AN ones. Not sure what else to try at this point.

-6 fitting don't flow much more than stock. I suggest looking into the STM sealed catch can kit. It will likely solve your issue.
