ACT Clutches?!

I heard that ACT has released their 2100 Clutch with Street Disc for the Evos

I had one in my 1G DSM and my 2G and LOVED it. The only thing that makes me think is the ACT claims it will hold 497FT/LBS of TQ which means this clutch might last all the way from installing my catback to my turbo upgrade (which is more then I can say for RMR or Clutchmasters) ...

Also it should be 1/2 the price of the Exedy (although you'd need a new/resurfaced flywheel) which is realy nice.

Anyone have one? Any feedback? Pedal Feel - Engagement?

Thanks for any info.

Yes, but would I be wrong to say that the stock clutch/p.plate will not hold 497FT/LBS of Torque? I know you were not saying this, but the ACT is not a stock plate or disc. In fact Im sure the products are upto ACTs standard of quality and went through MUCH prototyping (ahem, Road/Race) before being availible.

I guess I was just looking for people running them in their Evos since I knowhow well they perform in the DSMs.

Anybody, Anybody... Buhler, Buhler?

No, RRE would not let anyone here put a 2100 in their EVO no matter who its made by. I am going to say you have it wrong and the ACT clutch is simply heavier then you think. Where did you get that number?

Ummm... where did you "hear" this? Stock EVO clutches clamp at between 2100 and 2200 lbs.

ACT shoots for about 3100 lbs when they are manufactured, once installed and all settled in they clamp at about 2900 at the lowest. We list them at 2900 lbs because of this real world installed clamp load.

Weird how only DSM people give a crap about clamp load. The rest of the world wants to "hear" Stage 3, Stage 9, Stage Eleventeen...

We used the ACT clutch during all of our 11 second passes, including the run where we netted 124.75mph. Definitely a great clutch. A bit stiffer on the pedal, but a great engagement that won't destroy your transmission (full-face street disc).

Special thanks to Dirk at ACT for helping us out with that one!

okok... found the problem.

Ok here's the low down...

MB7-HDSS is the part #... The HD "Normally" puts down 2100lbs of clamp force.

According to ACT, the "term" 2100 has incorrectly been applied to many "HD" Clutchs in the DSM community and I passed along the assumed clamp load... In reality it is 38% more clamp force then stock.

Hope that clears things up a tad.

We also use a ACT clutch on our EVO. It has stock pedal feel while still handling 493whp no problem.

Thanks! Thats what I was looking for! Someone that uses the clutch (weather it is 2100, 2200, or 2900) and LIKES it.

Stock Pedal Feel?
Holds 493WPH?
Cost less then most on the market?

Sounds good to me!

Thanks!
