Stripped stud on fuel pump housing.
Stripped stud on fuel pump housing.
I was replacing my walbro 255 this morning and when I was tightening one of the 8mm nuts down I stripped the threads on one of the studs that holds the ring down. Is there any way to fix this? From looking at it it looks like I would have to replace the tank. Thanks in Advance.
When you say stripped, how bad is it? Does it thread on normally for some portion of the stud, and then spin freely? I had some of the threads near the bottom of the stud damaged, so I ended up stacking a couple thin washers so that the nut torques where the threads were good. If the entire stud is damaged though, only option may be to leave it off (probably not a good idea, but the rest of the studs might be able to keep it sealed) or you can use a die for external threads (like your studs) to fix the stud. Good luck
well I actually stripped it the first time I put a walbro on and this time I couldnt get the nut off so I had to cut it off and obviously destroyed the stud. Its running fine without it but I would like to repair it if possible. Any ideas? Im not sure whats under the stud because I cant feel the back of it from inside the tank.
