FP BLACK and the SYNAPSE SYNCHRONIC SURGING/STUDDERING PROBLEMS
okay guys, me and my buddy need some help, i have a 9 and he has a 10. he has a fp red and i have a fp black. We both have the synapse synchronic bov. Mine is mounted on the uicp recircing into intake and a-b port tee'ed together going to the IM of course. Hopefully he will chime in to tell you guys how his is hooked up. We both love this bov to death, its great! it has the stock bov characteristics but hold a ton of boost. Only problem were having is we cant brake boost due to it surging/studdering and say i hit the pedal to the floor a bit below 3k rpms it goes crazy. Anyone else having this problem?
I'm the guy with the 10 and mine is hooked up the same way. I know I've seen a thread about the stuttering before but never saw anything ever mentioned on the brake boosting or if it's just not going to hold at all when it comes to that aspect. Any advice for us would be great
That's a new one, but it makes sense. Brake boosting is the same as having it on a load based dyno like a Dynapack and forcing the engine to hold an RPM. You're turbo is bouncing off the surge line, and being held at a surge point, instead of being able to drive through that surge point quickly.
The way to eliminate the DV/BOV out of the equation is to cap the discharge/re-circ using a balloon, rubber glove, or plastic cap. It will flutter, but at least you can check under load if it is the DV/BOV. It basically acts like nothing is leaking. If it still does it with the cap, then the BOV/DV has nothing to do with it, and it is just a characteristic of your particular turbo. The only thing you can do is to drop the WGDC (wastegate duty cycle) at that point in the tune.

My car does the exact same thing. It surges to hell and back under part throttle. I will try lowering the WGDC, but I will more than likely be switching to a Tial when I go SD.
