Hi Guy's,
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced there CVT, whing when changing virtual gears or if you are in traffic with a lot of stop and go? I have also recently noticed that the CVT studdering when nearly coming to a a stop? I am curious to know if any one else has or had this problem, and if you were able to resolve it. I am bring my RVR in but i would like to get a head and see what other people have experienced.

thanks.
Matt

Is yours a FWD or AWD?

We are up to 59K+ on ours (AWD) and I've driven it pretty hard these days (in city traffic too.)
I have not experienced any studdering or other odd vibrations/sounds/behaviors...

You sure it's from the transmission? and not from a loose balljoint or connecting rod?

I have 120k kilometers on it. I have ask the dealership that, and they told me that it's sealed an doesn't need to be changed. Oh ic, I guess I just didn't notice it until now.

Dealer has no clue what they're talking about they clueless. The cvt transmission fluid does need to be changed. Recommend every 30k miles which is about every 48,000 km. You are wayyy overdue. A fluid change will most likely help your issue especially with that many miles. And also at that mileage you should change your filter/o ring in the housing. Recommend you also drop the trans pan, and change the plug/gasket and also the filter inside and clean out the pan. You car has been neglected on some maintenance. It's really the only way to keep the cvt trans going without any major issues. Do ALL that maintenance. You have a ton of miles. After you do all that I'm like 75% sure your issues will go away. But like stated its normal for it to studder at low rpm/speed in traffic

Really, thanks for the heads up. I will look into it. Is it costly and hard to do this work? If the dealer can't figure it out i will push them to replace the transmission.

120km is about 75k miles ok. Depends on the dealer really, and it's not like super costly, but price you have to pay to keep the trans alive. You can probably do it all yourself if you had access to a garage/lift. But the dealer has the special too which "flushes" out all the lines with the old fluid still in there. If you do it yourself you won't get every little bit out. But I would ask the dealer how much it's all going to cost. The cvt fluid flush, a new gasket for the cvt drain plug, changing the filter/o-ring in the housing that connects the cvt cooler to the trans. I would at least get that done. Now this is something you don't have to do but I would recommend, drop the cvt pan and clean it out change the gasket and change the filter/o-ring in the pan.

So I brought the RVR into the dealer and they asked me to demonstrate the issue to the mechanic, and sure enough the mechanic pretty much came to the conclusion it was the transmission pretty quickly. They replace all the fluids in the transmission and the noise for the time being has seem to be have been resolved. They told me to drive it for the week and push it and if the issue returns they will warranty the transmission.
