I looked around for a month or two before I bought my TBE.
When looking around I found the Buschur TBE. It had huge weight savings over stock, and the price was great.
I ordered it withe the HFC and Magnaflow. The tone was very mellow, but deep. Highway noise was very low.
I eventually realized that noise wasn't that big of a deal. So I took a air chisel with a long bit to the inside of the cat.
To my suprise, when I removed the cat, there were already pieces that had broken off, only after 10k miles.
Now the exhaust sounds beast, especially when the wastegate opens.

If I had to get a TBE, I honestly can say I would get this one but with a test pipe. The fit is great, and it is very light.

If you have a JDM rear, you may want to call Buschur to get a special fitted exhaust. Good luck.

If money is no option, I'd love a straight through Buschur setup as its best looking and sounding IMO. The HKS carbon Ti is a close second though in terms of looks, especially with the JDM rear end.

I ran my ebay turboback for about a year, I recently switched to an AMS one (got an amazing deal on it) but will probably be switching back as I preferred the ebay one in terms of rear-end looks and I can make quite a bit of money on the AMS unit if I sell it.

I have a xs power tbe with a vta o2 housing and test pipe. Its alot deeper than any I've seen on youtube at idle and at wot it screams, it sounds like pure sex with my vta dump open.

Custom front and dump high flow cat and a kakimoto cat back sounds deep on idle and tough on boost (no tinny sound as you get from some of the cheaper ones)

I think the Buschur exhausts sound like crap. I'd go with HKS Hi Power. Apexi N1 is the best sounding in my opinion but it's quality is lacking.

I have A Megan turbo back with the test pipe and the O2 housing. I think it sounds great. It's a little loud for the neighbors when I start it at 5am. Inside my house when it idles outside I can feel the low pulsation its like a subwoofer and cheap. However Apparently you have to modify the O2 housing to prevent boost creep. Mine came used from the for sale forum already modified. I also got the black version, stealthy look.

I heard the Megan exhaust rusts pretty badly over time. They actually recalled the black painted models because of rusting.

First I've heard this but if its true I can buy 3 of them for the price of one of the premium/higher cost ones still making it a great deal. Additionally it could be periodically inspected sanded as needed and resprayed for next to $0.

My favorite was the megan tbe. It had an awesome deep & mid-range tone...was never high pitched. I only removed it (the cat-back that is) because I was bored after a couple of years.

- Next was an apexi hayabusa cat-back...which was stupid loud (it was almost a straight pipe...4" straight-thru muffler at the end). My evo sounded like a hayabusa...all high pitch.

- Now I have a B&B cat-back with a big magnaflow muffler on it. It's pretty tame for a 3" exhaust and doesn't really sound that great either. I just went with it because I wanted a really quiet 3" exahust for awhile. It meets about 60% of that goal but is still too bassy. It's not a cool bassy...just a long elephant fart kind of bassy noise..almost like a wet elephant fart. not cool, but quieter than the others.

The Megan sounded the best of the 3.
But I live in a country that finds my magnaflow exhaust even a little too loud, so I can't partake in this TBE madness until I get back to the states.

Since I have an '05 Evo (ACD) the original Megan downpipe (made for 03-04 evos) was rubbing on the T-Case. I swapped it out for the V2 (ACD version) about 2 years ago and it wasn't rusty at all (it was ~4 years old). The Megan testpipe is about 6 years old and while I was underneath the car last week I noticed not a spec of rust on it even with all the salt on the roads in the winter and the humidity here.

My vote is the Megan TBE.

I have the WORKS TBE hooked up to their casted, over-sized 02 housing from a Maxford tubular header. I have had this system a little over 2 years and it has a nice 'drone' sound and has never had any issues. The fit & finish is spot on! I would do it all over again!

One of my cars has the ams turbo back and the other has the buschur w the magnaflow muffler and I had a hks carbon ti before as well. I think the buschur sounds the best and the and seems like it's very beefy and well made and still sounds nice. The hks was made kinda cheap it seemed and sounded just okay compared to the other two. I think the look and sound of buschur is top quality and dealing w them has always been a good experience for me.
