Removing my drive shaft questions...

first off...kind of pissed... there was some road work on the highway, and i think they were releveling and repaving the highway.....it was dark last night on that stretch of road with a tapered drop, i ran over a chucky part of asphalt in the middle of the highway and hit it about 40 mph.....it made a hell of alot of noise and now my driveshaft is squealing pretty bad......i def dented my exhaust and i think it bent my drive shaft.....there are horrible screeching sounds coming from the drive shaft bearings and with a straight ruler i was able to notice a tiny bend in the front shaft.....i am about to attempt a full dismantle on the driveshaft ..and have it checked out or replaced...and i have a few questions.....will oil spill out of the transfer case or rear end....when i drop this sucker....or is it a simple unbolt and rebolt thing......i have never removed one, so any help and tips would be awesome...thanks

The rear section is held on by four bolts, the front just slides into the transfer case. You don't ever need to access the inside of the rear diff, just remove the four bolts, remove the bracket and bushings and slide it out of the transfer case. If you put the rear of the car slightly higher than the front no fluid will leak out (at least none did out of mine). It's very easy to do.

Before you take it completely off, mark one side so the bolts on the rear section match back up when you reinstall it. Not sure if it's needed, but I read somewhere you want to realign the bolts the same pattern. All I did was mark it with a silver marker so it went back on at the same settings.

Bolts do not matter, bolt holes do. Make a reference mark on the drive shaft and on the input shaft flange on the rear diff. Where the driveshaft mounts to on the differential end.
