Help! Best turbo/motor set-up for Time Attack and Road Racing?
#18
thats what the products I suggested are about... Im tired of discussing the FACT that there are some minorly faster spooling, restrictive turbos.

yes the bbk full is also one of our favorites, and yes the stock EX mani can be ported and coated to be GREAT but still power is left on the table. Its more of a COST factor, this one.
The Tomeis are some seriously all-round CAMS)

I guess I proved that my approach IS a GOOD one, because in 20 minutes this thread has outperformed the majority of empty threads on here...
Its been a WHILE since I've seen a thread which debates one WIN combination with ANOTHER WIN combination...
YES all the mods mentioned are "elite"

I would do:
-BBK full or
-HTA green or
-EF2 (maybe when more tests are in)
-Porting of the stock exhaust manifolds retaining all heat shields a good factor when road racing keeping underhood temps low.
-GSC S2 cams with spring retainers
- A big budget for tires/pads/oil and seat time.

I am a fan of the BBK series turbos. The BBK turbos are built for the type of racing you do. I vote BBK Full, S2 cams with springs & retainers and a heavily ported stock exhaust manifold. With e85 you shouldn't have a problem hitting 450/400 on that setup...
BTW...car looks great...

What class and series are you going to be running in?
Reason I ask is that 450 whp bumps you into a lot of "unlimited" series classes where you are running against cars with much higher HP and fatter wallets

LOL this thread blew up....
Suspension is good. I just switched to some custom AST's (12k and 14K) Running 275/35/18 Nt-01's tires. I am actually scheduled for a full roll cage in 2 months. A 6 point fully tig welded.
Tires and Suspension are done. AST's with 275 NT-o1's on Volk Te-37's
Already have 2 piece rotors.
Car has a fresh Exedy clutch in it.
Car is fully gutted already.
Lexan is going in soon.

With that kind of power what are the mods on your suspension looking like? Some good coilovers, chassis bracing etc will give you the best reductions in time assuming you are already running on competitive tires. If you are serious about it, you should definitely consider getting a custom roll cage built. In addition to the obvious safety advantages its unbelievable how much better the car handles with a cage stiffening up the chassis.

Then you gotta step up and start shaving rotating mass if you want more efficiency..
START in the following order:
APPROPRIATE TYRES (some lightweight 255/40 (semi)slicks)
wheels
2pc brake discs
(clutch) flywheel
aluminum driveshaft mod
suspension
chassis mods (FIRST STRIP HER, as far as you like her and only then start swapping stuff for lighter parts..
