Tial 44mm WG?

Hi Guys,
just wonder will a Tial 44mm MVR WG works better for my setup compare to my current 38mm turbosmart wg?

Evo engine
2.0L
GT3076R - Low boost 1.5 bar High 1.8 bar

Lastly, will the 44mm wg big enough for my setup and will it reduce backpressure?

Sorry for the noob question.

In my opinion, you won't see any difference between the two on your setup. If your current WG is working fine I would just keep it; not to mention going from the 38mm to the 44mm is not a straight plug-and-play deal as their flanges are different. The 38mm WGs are proven to work on high HP applications.

Hi Cali, thanks for sharing but the reason i thought of swapping is to reduce the turbo backpressure as i noticed the exhaust manifold were tremendously hot spreading from the turbine hot side up toward the exh manifold.

Some say, it is due to unsufficient discharge area of the exhaust gases.

reason you would need to upgrade to 44mm: if the 38mm is causing you to boost creep, or wont allow you to run a low psi amount w/o it being stable.

How are you measuring the temps on the manifold? What kind of material is the exhaust manifold you currently have? The wastegate would not cause backpressure issues let alone cause the temps to rise in the manifold; If your exhaust temps are really high, check your EGT levels; running lean would cause EGTs to rise noticeably.

Oic...my manifold material is stainless steel or will it be the insufficient bend/area on the turbine to the exhaust downpipe due to space constraint on avoiding the air-con compressor.

a wastegate can not decrease back pressure, only turbine A/R/larger ID manifold/larger exhaust etc

a given backpressure is required to run a given boost on a system, you can not lower it with a wastegate, if you drop the backpressure you also drop boost
