EGR valve

Hey i need help!! ive got a couple of questions...

First heres my story... the other week i got a tune on my car and had an MBC installed on my car.. but when we first ran it, it was only shooting 12 soo we turned the MBC all the way up and it was only still getting 19 psi... but then we realized that we forgot a plug in the intake... so we ran it again but this time we forgot to turn down the MBC and when we floored it, it was pushing about 28-29psi and in turn the boot on my intercooler piping blew off, so my piping wasnt connected to the intercooler anymore... we had to drive it a lil bit to the side and it wasnt getting any air cuz of the disconnection so there was black smoke coming out of the exhaust and it would only get up to about 5mph no more... but we connected the piping and the boot back together to the intercooler and it was running perfectly fine.. we continued the tune and now my car is tuned to 22 psi...

but now my worry is that the engine light came on and i went to autozone and checked the code out.. they said it was the EGR valve that it could be dirty or something came unpluged or a faulty connection... i had recently changed the valve a couple years ago at the dealership so i dont think it could be bad already...

now has anybody had any experience with the EGR valve?? is it possible to change yourself?? if so can anybody show me a diagram of where its at?? or any of the possible connections i could look for?? any feedback would be helpful!! =D

And my second question is.. now since i had to get the tune at 22psi cuz of my bad boot.. if i were to crank it up to 24psi after i got a better boot will that ruin anything?? or would it be bad cuz i didnt get a tune at 24psi?? or does it now matter??

Thanks a bunch guys!!!

EGR block off plate and removal of evap system make for a lot less possible vacuum leaks.

That would be my solution.

I pretty much have your exact same story. hopfully my issue with the EGR valve is just a disconnected hose as well. have you had anymore issues with blowing off your intercooler piping?

I have had the same issue. I blew the hose off a few time and put it back on. Now I have the same code but hose is on the egr. Any negatives to this? It is in sh*tty location I can barely fit my hand in there.

Not recently I cranked it up to 24 psi now and it's running a lot better.. What happened was my piping is slanted to my intercooler so the piping didn't sit flat with it.. So I needed better clamps to hold them on.. I ended up buying some t clamps and torqued them on the boots and they work like a champ!! Never had a problem boosting yet!!

And yeah about the EGR valve it's behind the top intake piping.. (one next to the battery) you'll have to take it off to get to it.. It's small but there's two hoses one goin down and one to the side.. the one to the side on mine was completely off but once I connected it and disconnected the battery it was all good!! =D

Let me know how it goes man!!

Are you sure there both on?? On mine you couldn't reach the valve without taking the intake pipe off.. Then you can touch the whole thing.. And on mine the hose that was facing away was completely off... But yeah if there both and you disconnected the battery and the light is still on.. Maybe the valve is dirty.. Or you need a replacement =\

Thanks! It was just a disconnected hose. I'm glad your having better luck with those intercooler pipes than I am. But did anyone have any problems with boost in low gears after this whole ordeal? I don't see how it would be related to the EGR valve but maybe the SES light? I reset the code and havnt had anymore SES come up but my boost is noticeably less than normal in low gears and slowly increases back to normal levels as I shift up to higher gears. Because of those higher gears I don't think it could be a boost leak but I am lost. Any ideas?

Soo describe it how is the car boosting in those gears?? Is the boost holding like it should at a lower point or is it depleting while flooring it?? Does it do te same thing in higher gears??

did a boost leak test and everything seems to be fine. its more of a spiking problem but i went ahead and threw t-bolts on everything which reduced spike temporarily until i blew off the lower IC pipe for about the 10th time. are you using the AMS IC hoses? my problem seems to be keeping **** together rather than boost issues.
