what belts do you all prefer?
As far as I know the factory belts are Gates.
Regardless, as stated most parts stores will list the Gates belts as a year warranty, remember that's through them, Gates package claims a full warranty, as stated by e55nEVO9 already, for the stated lifetime of the OE belt. I know DSM guys who've made over 500whp on the regular Gates t-belt (same part number as ours).
So go OEM if you want like some of the guys around here push, but at the end of the day you're getting a REAL warranty and at the very least equivalent quality with the Gates belt. Because as far as I'm concerned, peace of mind isn't "If it breaks you're ****ed."

I am running a greddy timing belt, greddy balance belt and was using a greddy serp belt (all kevlar). They all kept that blue finish on them except the serpentine belt. Has anyone else had this happened to them? I just find it odd the timing belt still has that blue color but the serp, which I dont think has as much tension on it as the timing belt, has the blue worn down a lot more. After 5k miles, the finish on the serp belt is really worn, but the timing belt still looked brand new.
I know its a silly thing to complain about, Im just curious as to why and if anyone else experienced this? All tensioners were new, oem, so that isnt the issue.
Anyhow, with that said, the oem belts are good enough and reliable enough for most evo owners on this forum.

I chose to run OEM belts due to the fact that my motor will not see more than a 100hp and 70lb-ft increase so the factory components should be able to take the additional stress also, the motor will see 80% street use and only 20% of "competition use" therefore upgraded components would seem wasteful at this point in time. Mitsubishiparts.net made it very simple to purchase everything in one kit and so far is still the most cost effective on the market and when I purchased it there was even free ground shipping.
