TIMING BELT: Input/Picture request

As the title states, looking for some input from the Evom community on these pictures of a timing belt I've attached. I'd also like to see what your timing belt looks like, and how many miles are on it.

I had the timing belt service done on the car ~8k miles ago, and this is what it looks like. Work was done by a local shop.

Input? Over tensioned? Poorly man'd belt? Anyone have a picture of the label on the original belt that comes in the Evo's? Label different from an OEM belt purchased from Mitsubishi? Trying to determine if 1) the belt was replaced and either poorly man'd/over tensioned/?? - or 2) the belt wasn't replaced at all.

Thanks for the help guys.

Entire back side of the belt looks like this.

Close up.

Next to my thumb, you can see the edge of the belt beginning to tear. Kinda hard to see.

Label portion of the belt that has been rubbed off.

Missing teeth.

Other teeth beginning to crack/tear off. Most of the teeth left on the belt are beginning to do this.

Classic case of improper tension (loose). Like it was slapping around on something and then got to the point where it was jumping teeth and grinding them off. I would also look around inside the timing cover to see what all it was rubbing against. You can tell by the groove on the outside it was rubbing on the lower part of the oil pump cover. What did the shop say that did the work?

I would also check the oil pan bolt right under the belt. It is supposed to be shorter than all the rest of the oil pan bolts so it does not hit the belt.

I have seen people put too long of a bolt there and chew up a T-belt in a hurry.

People are amazed this belt has "only" 8k miles.

The shop is claiming they replaced everything that comes in the timing service kit. They're trying to blame it on a defective part, I'm beginning to believe they did a **** job and/or didn't replace the belt. I'm thinking they didn't even use OEM parts.

The motor didn't hold up well. Bent valves, some chipped. Metal bits made their way down into the block. It's not looking good to say the least.

My guess would be they didn't tension it properly, just my guess though. Either way, it's not purty.

+1 Over tensioned belt. Anyway to file a claim with your insurance or BBB?
Here is my T-belt; taking out 2 weeks ago. 87K miles on it;

NOTICE the glaze.
-I can take a picture of my 2 week old t belt. So far it has 860miles on it.

That's sad. My 60K miles belt came out a lot better looking than that!

To me it doesnt look like it was replaced. Ive done belts on numerous cars and never had a belt that was replaced with 8k on it look like that. Id begin to question the shop that did it and find a new shop. Thats why i would always ask for your old parts on a major service like that. Just extra piece of mind of things really being replaced.

I've been driving vehicles with a turbo charged 4g63 since 1992 and always did my own work which means I've changed a few timing belts. Well, I've never seen anything like this.

Maybe we could get a few people to post up what a failed belt looks like.
