Question on the Best Muffler and Air Filter.

So really im almost ready to go but as always im looking to improve my set-up every little bit i can. First off I a little worried about my K&N filter, it kinda looked like it got sucked into itself and im afraid it might not be as efficient anymore. Anyone have any experience with the AMSoil filters, i hear from my friend Pete that they're really good. Anyone used them on a big turbo though with a 9" configuration?

Now the most important part i want to talk about is my exhaust, yesterday i was searching all night but couldn't find a definitive answer. I'm looking to push 650whp or more but I don't know where the 3" exhaust becomes a restriction. TO be honest i don't really want to change my whole exhaust so i figure i'd improve it.

The Borla cat-back that I have necks down to either 2.75 or 2.5 at the test pipe flange, i definitely want to get rid off that. My major concern is, if you look at the inside of a Borla exhaust you'll see that the muffler has a plate with 4 holes coming out of it(Pic below) and im thinking that might restrict my exhaust flow now that i don't have an external dump.

So I was wondering what really is a good choice for me to put in place of JUST my muffler. I was thinking something like a Magnaflow, Greddy, HKS, Megan or something similar might do the trick. Now I really don't care that much about the noise IF i have no other option, so Oval or Round muffler? What the most free flowing Muffler that doesn't sound like a fart can?

I did see a thread where a guy put two Magnaflow mufflers, said it was quiet and supposedly it wont lose any power.

thanks for the help guys

If sound isn't a factor for you then get any exhaust that is a full 3 inches system. Don't be fooled by companies telling you one will make more than the other unless it restricts the exhaust for sound purposes. All these canister mufflers make the same power. My HKS hypower with the bottleneck made the same power as my buschur with the small magnaflow muffler. I also run the amsoil filter and the construction is better than any K&N I have installed on any vehicle.

Amsoil filters come in many shapes and sizes so just measure for clearance and order what you need.

either push your coupler further in or cut your intake pipe. Just like I tell my ladies, if it doesn't fit I will make it fit. The same applies to car parts

By the looks of that muffler in the picture, it sure looks damn restrictive to me.

Maybe you could just get a straight-through 3" Magnaflow muffler and get it welded on like me.

I had a Megan before and compared to my current Magnaflow setup, it sounded pretty "ricer-ish". Sounded exactly like the eBay TBE kits. Now, I'm glad I got rid of the Megan.

I have an Amsoil cone filter and I love it. It cost the same and has a better build quality than K&N. You can see and feel the quality in the Amsoil. I remember I praised Amsoil filters in a K&N commercial and the K&N person said "Amsoil is just made of paper where we have filter media" or whatever he said. Not from what I see when I hold both my friend's K&N and my Amsoil. Both filters were brand new when I was comparing them.

Where did you get the Magnaflow muffler end? I really want that stock style setup. Starting to not like my N1 style.

This is all great info guys, keep it up please. And it does look restrictive, I really didn't really think about it till my friend Cwill pointed it out. What model is that Magnaflow?

Ever since I got a few tickets for loud exhaust noises, I got sick of the round canister mufflers. That's why I'm running the oval 'sleeper' cans now. hahah

The muffler I have is the same exact one as this:
