Valves? Should I upgrade?????

Hello Evo M once again I need your help. Long story short my block is being shipped of to MA Performance this week for a short block build. While the head is off I am installing GSC 2 cams and beehives and getting a mild port job and resurfaced. My question is should I replace my valves while it is at the head shop? Also should I get bronze guides? The motor/head is going into a my Evo 9 track car (450-500 whp) my stock valves have about 26,000 miles on them. I didn't have these items as part of my engine build budget but I wanna do things right the first time.

Thanks EVO M

Tim

You should be able to reuse those valves, they just need to check/machine them to ensure they are within spec. The bronze guides would probably be a good idea though. My car has almost 100k on it now and when I did my head 12k miles ago I just had them machine the valves and I don't think they replaced my valve guides at all (not saying this is a good idea though). Car is making just as much power as it did before (~500-530whp), so it is working so far.

I had the head off because it warped from overheating.
