Idle Speed Control Motor.
So a little while ago my car started having a super erratic idle, around 300 to 700 cold and 600 to 900 when warm but super rough and if I ran the car hard at all it would instantly stall at idle. So with help I decided it was the Idle Speed control motor. When I pulled it out the motor the part in the first picture was half way out, as shown in the second picture. So I screwed it all the way in as shown in the third picture (IS THIS BAD and I should go back to the way it was when I pulled it out or SHOULD IT BE LIKE THIS? (the reason i did this is the teeth as shown in the fourth picture have a little bit more grab right on the end so if screwed all the way in they grab the the inside part of the motor, not sure if theyre supposed to. Also as shown in the fourth picture are the teeth, theyre very worn and I'm pretty sure the need to be replaced, but Im wondering if I can just replace the part that has been pulled out or If i have to replace the who motor? thanks

I didn't know the pintle came off - that's the part that goes in and out. Anyway, no parts - you buy the assembly. The ISC adjusts every time the engine starts so it doesn't matter where you left the pintle at install.

Ya my pintle screws in and it doesn't move very far, as you can see by the pictures the two motors don't look the same. Do you know why that is? also as a side note i bought the one from amazon today, hope it works.

Well hopefully that doesn't happen to me. Did the motor by chance come with the mounting screws? Somehow one of mine went missing, even though the other two were crazy tight in there. Don't think its what caused the problem though theres no way the motor could move even a little.
The one I bought did not come with any. Just the sensor...I did not realize that it looked different until I took out my old one and put the new one in. Fits perfectly but just not the right sensor. Hopefully I am getting the two mixed again and you bought the right one but it doesn't look like it to me

By a reset he means disconnecting the battery for a few minutes (take the cable off of the negative post). This erases stored settings in the engine computer. If you don't do this the ECU will still relearn the idle but it might take longer. Actually, any time you work on something electrical on the car it is a good idea to disconnect the battery first.
