I got beat by an M3 at the top end. I was taking him fine until around 110 - 120mph. Then he just passed me slowly.

Thumbs up NICE: Unorthodox SS Pulley Set...

Volcan, how do you like the pulleys?? I've been thinking about getting them but I'm just not sure. I haven't heard enough about them on the evo's.
I bought the entire solution from them (SS Pulleys, and EVO-specific Camshaft Sprockets, or "gears" as they are commonly called).

The actual reason I bought them was because of my previous experience (3-years, overseas) with a NA 1991 4G63 2.0 DOHC Galant (much weaker engine than today's 4G63 EVO).

Exactly as exepcted, car idles sliky-smooth, it accelerates smoothly, and quicker. At no-boost throttle, difference is felt when taking off, in the low-mid range.

Once boost is one, you need G-Tech or Dyno to feel difference.

The entire SS pulley set is plug-and-play, including the Cam sprockets. The machining is simply superb, flawless, and you won't believe you ugly and heavy the stock pulley is, when compared to Unorthodox's set (on your hands). No wonder why they use a mediocre "rubber ring" on stock's heavy and unispiring piece of metal.

Highly recommended, even after hearing Shiv's doubts and concerns, when I spoke to him.

FYI: I am in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Whenever you want (after Jan. 11th), we can get together to test our cars.

Happy racing,

Vulcan

Yes, I had a cone filter, full exhaust and an mbc set at 20 psi and smoked the **** out of an E46 in 4th and 5th gear.

Umm I ran a modded E46 m3 with 3 heads in my car vs his 1 philipino self. From what I saw and heard he had an exhaust and an intake (could have had a chip). Car looked great, it was lowed with a carbon spittler in the front.

Now my passengers were my girl and my 200+ pound friend. My Evo is 310whp (dyno proven) and we stayed even until about 130 when I started to reel him in REALLY REALLY slow. The second time we raced he started inching me at 120. Those cars have sick sick top end. I would have RAPED him from a start but at those speeds good freaking luck. If I were alone I would have won but DAMN it was close.

I don't know how the guy above me SMOKED an e46 with just minor upgrades in 4th and 5th none the less

Because I didn't mess up and he was most likely stock. Who knows but it happened. I've also seen plenty of m3s at the strip and they trap 104ish to where I trap 107 with high 1.8 60fts and a ****ty clutch.

Sure all that would help but race him anyways and tell us the outcome. You will be surprise what these cars can do.

I played with a z06 last week and neither one of us pulled on each other from 40mph to 100mph. Those cars trap 115 stock so I'm pretty sure he was going to rape me after 100.

You *do not *need them...

...Yaros:

You *can* beat the M3 by simply outperforming his current power-to-weight ratio. In other words, if you bring your flywheel power close to 340-350, and (at least) a flat top-end HP curve, you *will* certainly beat him because you are 200-250 pounds lighter (car-to-car).

Therefore, camshafts and all the extra paraphernalia you mention are quiet unnecessary.

You only need a pair of camshaft sprockets (or gears), a decent 3" Turbo Back (HiFlo cat or catless), and Xede (for integated turbo, spark and fuel management). That's all.

Anyway, go for this preliminary run as your baseline (so you come back and compare results as you tune and extact more HP from the car). That's what I did with a friend Porsche's, when I was close to stock (great top-end, by the way...)

Kind regards,

Vulcan
