90k miles to many for e85?

I dont know much about E85 but people are telling me to go E85. only thing im worried about is that i have 90k miles on the stock motor and turbo. Im sure with running E85 and getting higher HP numbers that the boost would be turned up to about 30. is that too much for 90k?

If currently your motor is healthy, no 90k is not too much.

As long as you keep up with maintenance, and choose the right supporting mods then most important the tune you will be fine making power with the stock motor.

I think 30 psi is too much for a stock turbo, not on an evo with 90k miles and a healthy motor. If I read correctly, you are on a stock turbo. I just went over 100,000 miles on a stock turbo. I've been on E85 for 4 months now and at 27psi. Love it, but I would love it even more with a FP Green or Red and some GSC S1 cams. Just make sure you get it tuned!

No. Never to old to have high octane.

You haven't even broken in the engine, LOL

Never too late to switch.

Also, I think the stock turbo loses efficiency at around 27 PSI if I'm not mistaken.

Been running over 500whp on E85 the last 35K on my engine which now has 100K on it. No problems yet. Trying to see if I can go 150K+.... we will see.

Ran E85 on my car when it was at 110k. Did it for an entire summer, and only swapped back due to the cold weather, and track days. Wish i could go back on that stuff.

I too wonder this.

I'm about to make the switch and am a little concerned about the alcohol cleaning my fuel system and clogging my new injectors. I'd like to put a filter right before the rail. Does anyone know of a filter that will plug right in?

E85 wont clog your system that I know, the only way it would do that is when the filter you put in place is filled with the extravwater that the e85 absorbs. The only thing is that it does not lubricate as well as gasoline. An engineer I know told me to make sure to use stainless lines and viton seals.

Yes, 90k is too many miles...once you hit 90k you cannot run e85.

Just kidding.

If your motor is in good shape and you want to take advantage of e85 by turning up the boost and stuff, then why not? I have never seen any lines become corroded because of e85. I have a bunch of friends and people I know who run it and have yet to ever have that problem.

Throw it in, get a tune and bigger injectors, fuel pump and have fun.
