Problem with a boost leak test

I've done some reading on problems other people have had and also read the how to for a boost leak test but I am still having problems.

Currently I am having the car tuned after getting a FP Red put on and I am running 26 psi but I am getting inconsistent knock and wanted to double check I had no boost leaks after a local shop has done one for me. When I put on the adapter and start to put pressure into the system I can not get it to climb past 4 psi. Now knowing I run 26 psi I know that I am just doing something wrong with the test and hoping I can get pointed in the right direction.

Just some info on the car. I have a new FP Red, grimspeed 3 port, GSC S1 cams, old UICP/LICP/intercooler (not seeing anything to cause a leak though), stock 9 bov.

EGR hose is off most likely.
