EGR blockoff plate stuck from RTV

I'm looking to reinstall the egr valve in my car, when I blocked off the egr only using a gasket it wouldn't create a good seal. The only way I was able to stop the leak was to use a gasket along with some red high temp RTV.

Trying to take off the block off now isn't working out, I hammered it with a mallet but no dice.

What can I get that will soften the rtv between the intake mani and the blockoff plate?

Thank you.

Well at least you know it didnt leak.

Try to use a razor blad and see if you can slide it between the plate and manfold to break or cut the seal. Then maybe use a thin flat head screw driver in a prying manner to get it off. But be careful not to mess up the flat surface.

after you get it off make sure you take that razorblade and clean the surface clean then reinstall the egr.
