after mods been done then...
Hello,
I read a lot of thread in this forums and all of the info are
thanks peeps.
Anyhow just realize that my car have poor gas mileage, full tank only can cover like 214 miles (normal driving), if freeway all the way would reach to 245-250 miles...anyhow just wondering is it because of the mods that been done to my car? though I only have like bov, intake and exhaust for performance mods.
but is it possible it is because the machine or the chips or whatever that controlling the car is set to stock spec?
like the gas mileage, is it possible that since i changed the bov, intake n exhaust that the car performs something that it is not suppose to perform since all the mods been change? like taking air not as much or not as little as what it suppose to be?
to the point, if this the case, do u think by getting an air fuel controller like the hks afr or apexi afc will help on the gas mileage plus get some hp on that? also i think that will stabilize the air fuel thingy?
sorry if i confuse u guys, since im myself is confuse (yeah im a newbie at mods)....LOL
peace
Happy New Year

I was getting about 210-220mi for a full tank under normal driving and started getting concerned. Then I realized that my "normal driving" actually was a-****load-of-boost driving. I didn't change my driving habits, but I did go ahead and order the Works P2 (along with a few other mods) which has been reported to up the gas milage by 2-5 mpg under moderate driving. The stock fuel map is _pig rich_ once you get into the upper rpms.
My advice: get your ECU flashed by Works, or another reputable company (ie. Vishnu)
You could also go with someone like Al, who also gets decent results, but I personally think he has an attitude problem. (I won't be suprised if he responds to this thread disputing that fact)
What it boils down to of course is either lighten up on the throttle (ie. hardly any boost) and save $$$ ... or just spend the cash and drive it like you stole it.

Remember, the Evolution has a tiny fuel tank, so your fuel economy will seem worse than it really is. When I fill up, I usually only get about 11 gallons or so, so I'm not complaining if I get 220 miles fill-up to fill-up. But a little bit of fuel tuning will help out your mileage a bit, but for what it's worth, I wouldn't be expecting more than 25 mpg with this car.
For maximum fuel economy, shift around 2800 rpms or so, stay out of the boost, and slow down a bit on the freeway.

Let me correct my figures ... I was getting 170-180 driving with a lot of boost, which worked out to 14-16 mpg. During break-in (some boost, but not much) I was getting 18-21 mpg. It all depends on your driving style.
