Jacks, or TRE, I wouldn't let the guy that does the "rebuilds" for Buschur touch my car with a 10 foot pole after some of the work I've seen that guy do and how he handles customers after the fact.

Can't go wrogn with TRE or Shep. BOth are very nice people, and very reputable. I've also heard of Jack, but not as a popular choice on here.

Doesn't Dan do the tranny rebuilds?? First bad thing I have ever heard of Buschur's tranny rebuilds.

Perhaps he's gotten better, or at least I hope so.

UPDATE:

The car is back together. THe setup is exactly what I was hoping it would be. THe care rides like a brand new one.

THe transmission that JON at TRE put together shifts like butter. I am 300 miles and counting. Still breaking it in... also breaking in the new clutch. I will post more later.

Worth every day I spent fixing the car...and every dollar.

Will update more as the months go by.
Customer service 9/10 for TRE. You guys will not be disappointed.

Give them a call if you are interested in rebuilding your transmission for street/race purposes.

Shep or jacks. Both do a great job.

Well i see you already made your choice. But i will go ahead and give my opinions since others down the road may see this thread. I personally have had transmissions done by Shep, and Jacks on different cars. I have been happy with both. Jack's is local to me so that was a big bonus, and he has always treated me and my friends well and have always gave great customer service.

I envy you, OP. I've been talking to Jon for a couple of months now. I've only spoken to him on the phone once, and we've exchanged a few emails. I really want him to rebuild my transmission, but he's been relocating to another shop since mid Sept and he says he won't be taking any new work orders until sometime in Dec. I can't help but to think to just send it to Shep because they are open for business. I've had the $ for the rebuild for a month now, and I'm tired of driving the car around like Ms. Daisy. I guess I'm just ranting. I want it fixed, and I want it fixed yesterday

I sat on my build for about a year. I investigated Shep and Buschur. But once I was referred to Jon at TRE, spoke to him, picked his brain, I never looked back.
I know the frustration. Just keep driving her soft and slow. Jon built mine with me in mind. He took a look at the entire thing in front of me. We disassembled it together with Eric over two hours in his shop. And that was the first time I had met him!
They are ripping it apart and telling me all the flaws in my driving style LOL
But he made some great changes and now I have a race transmission that works well on the street. That is what I wanted and it is what he delivered.

He recommended a hybrid transmission evo 9 and evo 8 gears combined - the best of both drivetrains.

I have nothing but great things to say about it. In fact, took it out again yesterday put about 40 city miles on it. Just trying to break it in before I get a bit "spirited".
Shifts like butter!

ALSO, with time I was able to save up money for a complete transfer case UPGRADE. Also, a great decision.

Be patient.
