Since he emailed me back today, I decided to stick with TRE, but I will be dropping the tranny this weekend because I have a few things to do while the car is torn apart. I know it'll be well worth the wait! I'm gonna upgrade to an evo9 1st & input shaft. Just wish I had the extra $ to get JDM 5TH and the HKS final too.

I just got the BR tranny with the 9 first and fifth. I could not be happier with it. Besides my Shep tcase and BR motor, best money I've spent. A++ for Daniel Buschur.

I'm happy with my Shep 6sp and TRE rear diff. Can't go wrong with either of them if you have the time and money.

This thread needs to be resurrected as people forget that there are other capable players in the DSM transmission market. If I ever had another project Evo to build, I would take it to TRE. His knowledge and capabilities make TRE transmissions the best they can be.

I have driven mine about 3000 miles and it shifts like butter. Feels amazing to drive my Evo now.

 

Can anyone tell me how much does it cost to rebuilt my tranny for my evo8 5 speed?

Just finish built my 2.4L monster and now my tranny making clunking noise n sometime my 4th gear pop out.

 

It's hard to really quote tranny jobs without taking the trans apart and inspecting everything. I'd say it would be between 1200-2k depending on what u want done. I do all my trans work myself because I wouldn't be able to afford paying someone else with how many trans parts I tear up lol. If its popping out of gear there's some fairly big issues, the slider/hub and synchro gear are wore and possibly an issue with the fork assembly and that means u not only need new synchros, sliders and hubs, but also a new 4th Synchro gear at minimum. Most trans shops don't put parts that are worn back in a trans either, so if there is anything questionable they will suggest u replace. If u do go with a shop I suggest shep trans, they are good guys there and will take care of ya.
