2.1 or 2.4?? Big Build Need Opinions!

Well guys and gals, as the title states I am in the process of a big build but have recently changed up my direction. I was in the process of building a 4g64 and going to run an FP Red/Black. As of late I am considering changing my plan. So far my 4g64 motor is half over bored to 87mm and ready for whatever I decide. My head has been deck and I have also gotten a valve job. I am now thinking about going with a 4g63 crack and doing an ETS 6262 turbo it. Is it worth going to a 4g63 crank or should I stay with the 4g64? Is it worth porting my head?! I need some opinions.

I already have a Shep Trans and T-Case. I also have purchased a mess of parts including Manley i-beams, and Weisco 1400 HD pistons the new "ethanol" pistons. I am planning to go to a 625 rod bolt for some added security, and also go to a Aeromotive dual 340 setup. I have every other bolt on necesary, I just need ot figure on a motor. I am also not 100% set on a 6262...maybe 37r? Any opinions and facts that can be shared would be great.

Some things to know:
Power goal 600whp+
Street driven car, might see the track once or twice as my car is slightly "stanced"
I am not set on the parts I have, and am considering many directions. (budget friendly of course)

I would really appreciate the help of people with a similar setup and their opinions. BTW my reason for the build is I dropped a rod through my old 4g63 block when I was making 420/460 on the stock bottum end (kinda asking for it) lol So now its time to go big! THanks in advance!!

I'm gonna be nice and give you some friendly advice buddy.

Go with a 4g63, the extra room to rev it to 9000/9500 rpm will help when doing those highway runs with bikes ; ). Your powerband will be very nice.

Manley rods are very heavy, I wouldn't use them... Again... Go with GRP alum rods if you really want something nice. They're lighter and act like a shock absorber in high hp applications.

As for porting your head, most people will make it flow worse than better. So be careful on having your head port it.

The 6262 is definitely capable of making the power your asking for, as long as your car is tuned properly. Why add lag with a bigger turbo just to make 600whp? If you insist on going bigger, go with a 6265, which will be good for another 50whp and spool up barely 100rpm later, (AKA AMS GT900x)

Seems most realistic for my budget, plus I already have the 4g64...Rogerio im assuming your head is ported, do you mind sharing with me who did it? Like "getpowerhouse" posted I wouldwant to make sure this doesnt turn my head into a nightmare.

buschur did my block and head.. i just got tuned two days ago the car made crazy power .. like you wouldnt think possible on a t-3....so far cant complain about the motor setup... the 2.1 is sick though nice high revs my cars spins 1st up to the end of 3rd. plus i have herd from a couple of shops that the 4g64 block is less prone to cracking walls then the 4g63 under high boost...

Instead of choosing between an 88mm and 100mm stroke, why not compromise at 94mm?

What did you make on what boost? Was there a correction factor involved?

Don't feel like putting my numbers out there yet... But Enzo tuned the car and it was on 40 lbs...I should be at the track next week that's what matters to me.. But I blew the tranny first launch.......

Don't be shy Rogerio, the car had to made upwards of 700whp and 500wtq. We all know that obviously!! I'm not really interested in dyno numbers either though honestly. Or 1/4 times. I just want to see trap speeds. Trap speeds are the best determination of power. With your mods at 40 psi of boost, you should be trapping at least 140-145 depending on what your car weighs.
