EVO IV starter replacement

I've established that my starter is bad and it has been confirmed by 2 garages. I am having a hard time finding a replacement starter. Both garages want to get me a rebuilt starter. One wants 350USD just for the starter and the other wants 22,500yen(293USD) for starter + labor. These prices sound sound horribly high to me. Am I not correct that all the 4g63 starters are somewhat universal as in an evo vi starter would work for me. I can find some on advanced auto for about 200 new but that's 2 weeks shipping, I have no idea how long this one will last as it is noticeably getting worse. Frankly, finding a used or rebuilt starter as a third party is quite difficult as I am finding out. I have yet to even find a new starter for an vii or something. I've been looking at quite a few auto part stores and all tell me they don't have any evo starters.... Any suggestions?

Can you get a starter rebuild kit for your type of starter(Nippon/Denso, or Mitsubishi) from an auto parts store in Japan. The kits are relatively cheap. They should include the contacts and a plunger. In the U.S. a rebuild kit costs about $40.00 from an online source.

I've heard of these before in the states, I think they fix the solenoid contacts. The problem with my starter, is something is grinding in it. It still works but its getting worse, so I'm not sure these kits will fix my problem, as I don't know exactly what the problem with my starter is.

I have swapped seloniods from an 8 to a iv. I cant remember if it was the whole stater though either. I know all i had to do was minor tweaking to the little shield. To make it work.
