Not sure I agree, for a couple reasons.

First, when it is released, Vishnu's user-reflashable ECU kit will be the first of its kind (to my knowledge) for Evos and will mean a lot for folks who like to run e.g. different gas at different times. The point here being there are more dimensions to a reflash than just results and number of ECU tricks.

That being said, for through-the-mail (TTM) reflashes, it is ultimately going to come down to how much confidence tuners have and how much they're willing to lay on the line with unseen cars. I expect as the Evo gets more and more familiar to reflash vendors, we'll see steadily more aggressive tuning in TTM reflashes, with the most aggressive reflash products shipping with a substantially aggressive high octane (normal) map and a very tame low octane (knock-triggered) map as a hedge.

Me and a lot of the Atlanta Evo's (many more I know, but I'm going with personal experience) got the DynoFlash reflash where Al came down and did personal flashs to each of the individual cars (7 total) and spent at least 2 hrs each with 6-10 runs to make it perfect and all of us can't stop talking about how it was the best investment we have ever made. By personally tuning each he extracted more power and as you know each Evo seems to be different (big differences sometimes) and an off the shelf flash doesn't seem to be as great.

Now we have people from all most every catagory to base this on. One with an AFC, one with an off the shelf, one with a full AEM engine management system, some with Al's flash and more with others. The one with the AFC got Al's flash and saw a huge difference even when his was programed right (it just can't get that percise) he now has it set to 0 and it is a decoration till he gets cams or such and has to rework stuff. The one that got the off the shelf saw good gains, but driving ours saw it wasn't as perfect as when it's custom. The one with the full management system hasn't fully tuned it but swears by it and has good points about being able to control boost and more, so it will be good to see how that works and it's probally better if you have the right person to mess with it, but cost is really high. Everyone that has the DynoFlash reflash is so happy that we all are looking to get him down again for friends and to redo ours when we have upgraded a couple more things (cams, turbo, etc...). Now Al's done hundreds of Evo's and knows them extremely well and from my experience he's such a great guy to work with and will spends as long as it takes to make your car perfect (he spent over 3 hours with mine since I was having knock problems with bad gas from Quick Trip and a really underpowered car). Now I know the Al bashing will begin as always from the little kids on the forum wanting to feel big and bad on the net while shouting to there mom's they'll be off in a second. Just ask anyone who's worked with him or has had his flash (there's hundreds out there) and judge for yourself.

Also, Shiv is a really great guy and helps a lot of people, but I have no personal experence with Vishnu's flash, so I can't comment.

$0.00

That's what we charge for it, since every P1 customer gets a 7850 rev limit unless otherwise specified and every P2 customer gets a 7800 rev limit unless otherwise specified.

The additional charge that we have is for custom rev limit tuning.

would it be possible to overlay dyno graphs of all of the flashes vs the stock dyno graphs of the cars they were on? in some sort of logical colorscheme

search for dyno graphs Al posted up. He can raise ur limiter as high as u want for the same exact price. He definitely has a very competitive price with excellent gains on the car.

since the original post came from a california resident, I am strongly considering going with someone that tunes with our 91 **** water on a regualr basis.

Saying that, I am not a fuel specialist or a molicular engineer, but i dont think ca 91 octane with all of its additives is the same as 91 octane in a state that regularly sells 93 octane. Which raises some concern.

Which Ca. vendor? I havent decided, Probably vishnu. From what I can tell, he has a larger tuning base from which to base his maps from. Who wants to be a guiney pig?

Works is a CA vendor, Dynoflash is coming to CA for a special tuning session for this reason later this month.

I know about same car conditions thing, I thogh it would be intesting to compare against the abseling in a car and adjust in my head for the type of dyno. on this car stock looked like this now it looks like this w/works...same for dynoflash, same for vishnu etc it would atleast give us a loose base for comparison with out the full blow "shoot out" approach.
