are all aftermarket o2 housings completely divided?

my o2 housing is divided up until where the flange was welded, but up to the point of where the flange meets the housing in the middle between the 2 openings theres like a gap, i tried looking around but no luck...

this is an "ebay" o2 housing that was given to me to replace my current o2 dump that i sold...

any and all info will help!

No. I have an old one laying around that is not divided at all. I replaced it with an o2 dump. Im not sure what brand it is though since it came on the car when I got it.

i dont have a picture of my o2 housing but this one will sorta help...



the inside of my new o2 housing looks like the stock one on the left. the divider of the wastegate and turbine runners is a little recessed compared to the flange...not like the one on the right where the flange is actually separating the two...

if i were to describe it a little more, if the o2 housing was installed, the exhaust gas from the turbine side could go to the wastegate side directly after coming out of the turbo, it is still divided throughout the o2 housing, but right at the top where the flange is, the flange isnt dividing the wastegate and turbine...so the gasses would cross paths before the collector instead of at collector where the downpipe meets the o2 housing...

i hope this makes sense to someone!

If you match a o2 housin gasket to the o2 housing you will notice that the o2 housing can use some porting. People get rid of the divider because it smooths exhaust path.

i understand that, but what im saying is is that on the flange isnt there on the part that divids the wastegate and the turbine gasses...

Some people say by not having it divided it can cause turbulence in the 02 housing with the exhaust gases...Others say it won't do anything...I don't think there has ever been a test done to prove anything. It makes sense that it could cause some type of turbulence, but I run an 02 dump & don't have to worry about it at all...

Thanks for the input. Im glad i got a vendor/fabricator's point of view.

This o2 housing was free, so i was wondering if i should install this as a permanent replacement or not...

one more question...should i use the factory o2 housing gasket?

Factory 02 housing gasket is not divided correct(can't remember)? If your 02 housing isn't divided then I would use a factory gasket. Make sure the flange is gasket matched. Another suggestion would be to go to your local Auto parts store & pick up a can of that Cooper Gasket spray stuff. Spray a nice thick coat on the 02 housing flange & let it sit for a couple mins. While its still tacky bolt the 02 housing to the turbo. I haven't used gaskets with 02 housings in a while, I have just been using this spray & have yet to have a leak. Obviously its up to you if you want to use a gasket, but its another option.
