Weird poping sound from diff

A friend of mine's evo started making a poping noise when he shifts quickly. I test drove a couple evo's before I bought mine and they did this as well. Sounds like its coming from the rear diff. I had heard there is some bushing that needs to be changed to fix it but just wanted to see what everyone thinks.

could just be his exhaust popping.. mine usually gives off a smallpop also when i shift fast depending on the rpm i shift at..i think it has something to do when the afr goes from lean rich lean (or it could be the other way, dont quote me on this) really fast..what are his mods btw

Why is this in the advanced sub-forum?

If you're talking about the mustache bar 'clunk', it's normal to all unmodified evo drivetrains, dude.

Go get a mustache bar eliminator kit and call it a day.

mods are hks280's, invidia downpipe, hks cat back, buschur race fmic. Its kinda slow with those cams on stock 8 turbo, mani, and o2 housing. Only was able to put down 334whp on 93oct 22psi. Those size cams need a big turbo that can handle the higher rpm's.
