Hks 7460 + gsc s1

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are with using the 7460 with GSC S1 cams or am I better off running the HKS cams they come with? Reason being is that I currently have a Tomei ARMS with a bung actuator so I kind of want to just get rid of it. The HKS 7460 is a nice turbo for a very nice price with the cams, but do I put the cams in costing me many more $$$ or do I leave my S1s in my car and run the HKS with them. (sell the new cams)

Target is 400whp on 100 octane with 10% ethanol. Currently making 385whp on the Tomei. I want to keep my spool as low as possible. Chasing mid range power.

Also am I right in thinking flow wise the 7460 is about in line with a HTA Green? As far as I can tell from reading up it should be pretty close. Looking at the DBB Green as a possibility but so very expensive.

Thanks.

Follow your instinct. Keep the S1's and sell off the HKS cams. The S1's are the best for spool up which is important to you.

If the HKS 7460 turbo is significantly cheaper for you than a BB HTA Green then I would get it instead....definitely.

Well the HKS will be about $2100 plus shipping for everything plus I can sell off the cams/springs/retainers for about $600 I would think. The DBB Green will be $2650 plus shipping by the time I get all the bits I need (install kit) so over $1000 cheaper.

What about the surge issue with S1s? I love my S1s. Mid range is insane, my Tomei comes on 28psi at 3900rpm which is very good for those.

Also without the bigger cams does the 7460 have another 20whp in it over the Tomei?

7460 has amazing response and with 100oct it will easily go over 400whp. the fp green hta flows much more air then the 7460 though.. i just had a customer go 11.1 on a fp green with a single walbro.. easy 10 second car/turbo with the proper bolt ons.

really depends what youre after.. if you just want anything over 400 then the 7460 will do it.. if you want near or over 500 on 100oct then fp green hta will do it.

The 100oct is Australian 100oct so not sure if it is less explosive then the stuff you guys have. More like your 95 maybe? That said it only needs to make 20whp more then a Tomei which I would expect it is capable of that and more. (40-50?)

I have a stock bottom end and plan to keep it that way so my feeling was that 400whp was already my upper limit. I don't need to be making 500whp and would prefer the response. So far it seems the HKS still does that better then the DBB Green.

the greens a better turbo but in all honesty based on what you're after the 7460 will get you there cheaper and just fine 100 ron right? thats about 94 us oct. just have good bolt ons and you will get over 400 on the hks turbo. ive done a few of those around the 420-430 mark on 93oct us oct with basic bolt ons. and the gsc s1 vs the hks cams it wouldn't be worth changing them out.. keep the gsc in.

Cool thanks for your help. I know the Green is a "better" turbo but for about $1100 more? Maybe not so much.

Bolt on wise I have ported exhaust mani, GSC S1, custom 3" TBE, invidia O2, ETS full cooler piping, AGP 3.5" FMIC, Perrin pod with carbon box 4" snorkel and HKS DLI II ignition (just hooking the DLI up gave me an extra 20whp, we did back to back runs )
