I don't think that the actual design of the filter is the problem. Like stated before, there is just too much air passing the sensor. Just get a dynoflash, it is definetly the best modification on my car, and one of the cheapest!

Tried the sock that K&N sent. Still too much air. Went back to the stock intake and drop in. Everything is working

I would be interested in seeing what happens after your 200miles. Keep in mind the ECU learns pretty quickly...faster than other ECUs I have seen, so it should be able to adjust after 10-15 minutes of driving. So I am not sure if driving 200 miles will help, especially when my fuel cut was hitting on every WOT, then I eventually through a code/CEL/SES. I think I drove about 250 miles on the intake and it did not change anything

Anyway good luck. BTW, my car has been performing great since I went back to the stock intake with the drop in.

PS, you might want to avoid using all caps, people might think you are "yelling".

Wow, I installed the K&N today and ran the track tonight.... VERY dissapointed. The car ran so dog slow and yes I feel the fuel cut. My best run was a 16.7 while a stock evo there was running 13.8 with horrible launches. I felt like an ***.

WTF do I do? has there been any progress?

Everything is installed right, and there are no air leaks.... It just seems that the car is freaking out since there's so much air and is DUMPING a tond of fuel. I went through a half tank of gas in like 40 miles of driving- this is not normal.

Update:I tried resetting the ECU- this did nothing.... I tried the garbage bag trick (taping a plastic garbage bag to 65-70% of hte intake therefore limiting it's surface area) and it really helped a lot... This proves the fact that it's the amount of ariflow that is killing it.

I have the K&N Typhoon. Not real happy with it because of all the sh*t that I have been reading about it, It sounds good, and I havent had any huge problems with it. Should I put the stock box back on or switch to something else HKS RS intake?? any thoughts.

I am putting the stock back in tonight- and going with the perrin short ram. I havne't heard anything bad about it, but it looks good and usually as long as you dont' see threads about it being bad it's just fine lol

Yes I'd go with the injen, the HKS, or the Perrin. I should have the Perrin installed by midweek.

The K&N Typhoon won't work without engine management. I did some wideband testing after installing one and the AFR's were war too rich. After some dyno tuning it's been alright, but it does feel like I've given up some torque for top end HP. I have even considered switching back to the stock airbox a few times, but haven't done that yet.

yup- that seems to be the concensus. I just ordered the perrin short ram- and in the meantime will be rocking the stock again.

I had Al from dynoflash tune my car when it was bone stock. After I put on the Typhoon Al said he will not waste his time tuning my car with that intake on.

I've had a Typhoon installed since they came out and have no issues yet. I have a full 3" TB exhaust, a Hallman MBC, and an E-Manage. 310WHP and no CEL's or fuel cut issues.
