So people replacing the UICP are only doing this for looks?

Also the stock turbo is good for only about 400HP at the highest?

An O2 housing makes good power although for a basic build up isn't really required.

Isn't the stock O2 around 2.5" anyways?

Thanks

I think what was meant was the consensus so far is that the upgraded O2 housing didn't make as much HP gains to make it worth the expense of upgrading it.

I have to replace my O2 housing after the accident (my car was rear-ended and the exhaust got MANGLED and forced forward) so I'm more than willing to swap it for a stainless housing and see if its true or not. Anything that will allow the turbo to spool a little earlier will certainly help my intended application (I would love to do the TME6.5 ti Turbo cartridge in my turbo or replace it with an TME65 ti turbo) (At the rate I'm going, I'll probably have already upgraded to an aftermarket turbo setup since the car is already apart though)

Thanks for trying to keep it on subject!

Best of luck with your EVO after the accident. I would replace the O2 housing with an improved piece if I was in your boat also.

Correct, the one in the mag is a prototype. We have since switched to the design on the web page as a convenience to our customers running our downpipe, we would like big jerks had we come out with a downpipe and then told people they had to ditch it for our new O2 housing, or if we had required folks to buy them together.

Whether people know it and/or believe it, theonly gain that is gotten from an upper I/C pipe is that it will clean up the engine bay quite a bit, we are not in the business of selling our customers fishoil.

The stock turbo is good for right around 400 whp at it's max, which in my book is no slouch at all. After driving a few cars around here making that sort of HP I think that may be the best all around feel of the EVO yet. It has enough HP to pull away from most anything on the street, yet not so much that it is sliding due to the crown in the road.

The O2 housing will most certainly get any EVO owner just that much closer to that magic 400 hp number, and if the owner has the cash I recommend it. But for the EVO owner on a budget it may not be the best HP for their dollar.

Yes the stock O2 housing is close to that size, but that is only part of the reason to upgrade it. The tubular units a vailable have better internal flow characteristics than the stock cast unit.

I hope that I answered all of your questions and I would have sooner but my internet connection at home is MIA as of recent.

No they are not, they are high temp coated mild steel.

I also highly recommend the 3" 02 housings. We use all SS flanges, tig welded and the option of internal or external dump.

The price is $269.

If you are looking to get the best spool up and the most power from your stock turbo then this is the way to go. Just ask any DSM guy. 2.25" to 3" is a big difference.

bring this one back from the dead.

With the external dump, how big of an effect will this have on underhood temps?

So they're not worth any power even with your larger intercooler?

How about if you're using a mild T04E setup?
